DTW ART & FRAMING

The Holy Grail of framing questions! We used to say between $50 and $5000, since that about covered it. To save a trip to our shop, call us and we will do our best to give you a range based on basic, or “plain vanilla” custom framing to whatever your heart desires. Please check the size of your art before you call, because that is one of the major cost factors. Frames, types of mats, special glass or plexi, and labor intensive projects can all add $ to your finished project. If you have a standard sized piece, I'll tell you can also buy ready-made frames if the cost seems to high for you. I just don't sell any ready-mades, but can guide you to places that do.

Our normal turn around time is one week. Depending on the location of the supplier we can sometimes do 3-5 days. If your really desperate and not to picky about what moulding I may have laying around I've been known to do it in a day, of course we will ask for baked goods, preferably with large amounts of sugar, as extra payment.

Let us know! You will be looking at your framed art everyday, and we want you to be happy with what you see. We try our best to design the perfect combination based on your budget, but every now and then things may need to be tweaked. Bring your piece back in and we’ll be happy to work with you to make some adjustments.

We keep some matboard in stock for small jobs. Most of the time if you just need a basic mat you can get it the same day. The same goes for glass. If you need your mat or glass installed into your frame please call ahead and ask what our workload is like that day. We may have to ask you to come back in a day or two.

We do stretch canvas. You don't have to frame it once its stretched, but all canvases are different and some have very little extra canvas material around them, so it may not be possible to hide the staples on the back of the piece once stretched.

One customer brought in a greasy bag and proceeded to pull out and unroll a 6 foot freshly skinned rattlesnake hide. I said no because I don't have clue how to tan a snakeskin. Some things you'll see in “Our work” section, some things I can't even mention what they were to keep this site at least PG-13 rated.

We are 200 yards south of the Congress Ave. Bridge and we have a parking lot with 18 spaces for you to choose from. We are right next to the Firestone dealership.
